Big explosion on the island of Stromboli just a few hours ago. I haven’t seen anything in the American press yet, but here’s a link to the Italian paper La Repubblica with images and video.
Unfortunately, there were two climbers near the crater when it exploded. One died and the other was injured.
Etna in Sicily has also been quite active this week, apparently.
Just a heads up for those of you interested in this sort of thing.
